Contestant Data I am 54 years old and have worked in state government-mostly in communications and public information-for a little more than 31 years. Next year when I become eligible to retire, I hope to devote more time to my newfound hobby and fledgling "home occupation" of making stained glass window panels. Three years ago I took a class from a local artist as part of the Arts in the Afternoon program sponsored by Saint John's Episcopal Church here in Charleston. It was there that I discovered that I seem to have all of the right aptitudes for working with stained glass. Now that most of the windows in my home display some variety of my work, I am beginning to receive commissions and create stained glass art for others. I have always drawn my own patterns. My favorite glass is Wissmach. My windows range from representational pieces like "Sunset in Paradise" and "Irises from Outlook Road" to geometric designs like "The Plaid Project" and "Rhapsody in Red." The latter window faces south, giving it optimum sun, and it contains all West Virginia glass-some Blenko but mostly Wissmach-in vibrant reds, cobalt blues, a gold-orange and some streaky red-yellow combinations; it is sub-titled "The Primaries in Devilish Disarray."
