I'm a wife, mother, stepmother and grandmother. I have always been motivated and stimulated by colors. I've knit, oil painted, xstitched, and sewed clothes for my children when they were younger. My main profession was a research scientist for a pharmaceutical firm for 20 years but my heart was always somewhere else. So, in 1995 when I was offered a buyout - I jumped at it. I started my new career selling imported stained glass lamps for my brother at flea markets and trade shows. As I became more interested in the stained glass, I decided to teach myself. Through lots of trials and errors, and tons of support, understanding and help from my husband I practiced and practiced. I started cutting and breaking on a shared work bench in a room with shag carpeting. Not the best of ideas. We turned a bedroom into a studio and what we had learned into a hobby/small business. I have show space in a local marketplace where I sell what I make and imported lamps. I have recently graduated to designing and making side lights, transoms and windows for private homes. I joined this contest so that I could finally make what pleases and inspires me - not what someone else wants. Free to express me. Good luck to you all and may we all have fun.
