Walk Through the Desert (Lamp)
Imagine you are a camel. It's a slow day, where should you go? To
the Pyramids? A palace? Or how about relaxing with a cool drink at the
oasis?
These are the choices for my camel as he takes his walk through the
desert. If he looks closely, he will see wings in the top of the palm tree,
and a jewel (cut in half) topping the towers of the palace.
The lamp shade has 75 pieces, measures 8.5" square at the base and
is 8.25" tall. It took me 56.5 hours to create. Most of the glass is
Kokomo, except the sand, which is Bullseye, and the palace, which is
Spectrum. The edges of the lamp are rimmed with ball chain. I painted the
camel tan and used a black patina finish.
My biggest challenge (besides deciding on a project idea) was the 3D
construction. This is the first lamp I've ever made. It took me a while to
get the panels squared up, but in the end I am very pleased with the
results. I hope you'll like it too. |
