The Wizard and the Uni-Pega-Cama

I wasn't sure if I wanted to register for this contest, but with the encouragment of a friend I did! When it was announced what we would be getting in the mail to use in a project - - I wanted to back out!! A camel, wings and a red jewel - - I started going through the internet looking up anything and everything from Disney to hotels in Las Vegas. The first thing I was trying to figure out was what to do with the wings - - and wondered how many people will have flying camels??? In a conversation with a couple co-workers and the help of family members - I came up with a camel that has a horn like a unicorn and wings like Pegasus - and therefore created the "Uni-Pega-Cama". Then the red jewel - - - a treasure chest - - a butterfly - - several more ideas!!! While browsing the internet I found colorbook pages for kids that had Noahs Ark - - holiday pictures - - - etc!!! In the category of Fantasy I found wizards!! OK this might work! In one of the pictures, the wizard had a necklace on !!! The next decision was what size to make him and how !! I am currently learning and testing glass fusing so that is how I decided to put the wizard together. I used Bullseye glass, white frit, black noodles and stringers for details. The necklace was cut in the U shape and fused with black and gold pieces of noodles. Rhinestones were glued on the hat and sleeves and the necklace with the red jewel glued on the Wizard! I made the wand from a glass rod I had left from another project and wrapped copper foil tape around it and did decorative sodering. The final touch was to have the uni-pega-cama gold plated and there you have it - - - the wizard that discovered the "golden" uni-pega-cama!
