The Parrot
When I first saw the objects that were being sent to me for the panel, I had no idea what I wanted to do.
Then I saw the parrot on the bevel. I have a friend that has several parrots. So that was settled. Now, what
to do with the 48 small jewels?
The panel is 24" wide by 36" high. It took approximately 72 hours to complete and there are about 330 pieces
in it. Of course the bevel is very obvious in the panel as it sits in the bottom border with the small mirrors
that were also sent to me. The jewels were used as center to the flowers. This was the most difficult part of
the process, putting solder prongs on the jewels to hold them in place.
The glass used was from Spectrum (I used the new rain forest green in the leaves.), Uroboros' Fractures and
Streamers, and many scraps from everybody. And of course I used a border of bevels. I finished it off with an
oak frame. This has been a challenging project with all the small flower pieces and the jewels.
Good luck to everyone. Looking forward to the next round. |
