The beveled oval with the engraved parrot was the dictator in deciding what to make with all the goodies sent
this round. I had toyed with the idea of making a birdcage in a room but decided that it would be too huge. So
after looking through a bunch of books for inspiration, I narrowed down what it was that I wanted to do. I sat
down with pencil & paper to draw out my design.
The design process took the better part of a day.
Bevel - In the center, painted first with Rub 'N Buff then Pebeo
paints over it.
Mirrors - Each mirror was cut into six triangle shaped pieces and they are near the outer border in the red area.
White jewels - I used 24 of the jewels, 12 of them in the border and the other 12 are on the points of the red area.
Glass - Spectrum & Kokomo
I ran into some obstacles with painting the bevel and glass color choices but I feel everything fell into place
nicely in the end.
My parrot panel measures 19"x23" in the oak frame. |
