"The Pet Shop" is a 24" x 32" flat panel. It includes one dog, one cat, two birds, two fish and a frog. The sign hanging from the shop includes the sandblasted oval bevel above the words "Pet Shop". The fish tank in the window is hiding the two hexagon mirrors (the two fish). The mirrors have been cut into eight pieces. Thirty-three (of the forty-eight) white opal jewels are blooming on the vine in the window box. The awning above the window is made from white and green opalescent glass. The bricks on the wall are gray opalescent glass, as is the sidewalk and street at the lower left. The red glass that make up the letters of the sign, the pole from which the sign hangs and the New Guinea Impatiens in the flower box is made from red Waterglass. The cobalt blue Waterglass is in the aquarium and it depicts the window box. The building containing the dress shop on the side street and the shelf in the pet shop window are made from beige iridescent glass. The sand in the aquariums is made from tan iridescent glass. The purple leaves are made from colorescent glass. A clear textured glass surrounds the bevel in the sign.

I used copper foil in two sizes (5/32 and 7/32) to show detail in the areas with small pieces of glass and to achieve varied line weights in the finished piece. The frame is made from zinc U-channel with rebar reinforcement inside. This has truly been a learning experience to work with so many types of glass. There are approximately 500 pieces of glass in "The Pet Shop". I have spent approximately 100 hours working on this project since receiving the Theme Items.
